Wirral Grammar win NW U14 Grand Prix

U14s JUVO success

Two Wirral-based teams played on Sunday June 5th in the inaugural JuVo (National U14s) tournament at Wolverhampton. Black Country VC did a really good job organising and running such a big competition (20 girls and 14 boys teams took part) and it proved to be a very enjoyable and successful day for our teams.

Wirral Grammar finished joint 2nd and Birkenhead Girls finished joint 5th.

The results could have been even better as the Wirral Grammar girls faded in the second stage after finishing top of their 7 team pool in the morning session. The BIrkenhead girls finished strongly, winning the 5 to 8 pool play-off and were unlucky not to have made it into the top 4 alongside Wirral.

These finishing positions bode well for Wirral's chanced in next year's EVA U15 cup.... report

Chien Li and Nicky Gore, our club captain and our best attacker have decided to retire after more than 20 years in volleyball, They have been the mainstay of our National League team and a great inspiration to out younger players, They'll both be badly missed.

We've decided to withdraw from NVL after a poor season but, fortunately we have a very string group of juniors at the moment so the club will go on.

Senior players decide to call it a day

Wirral Grammar (girls U14s) finished an outstanding season by winning the biggest NW junior competition at Tameside on Saturday, June 15th. report...

They finished 3rd on the day in the 6th round of the competition looking a bit rusty after a month off but deserved their overall victory having won four of the six rounds.

They now have next year's National U15 Cup to look forward to.
