MVL WD2 Wirral A vs Prescott Lynx

Team: Katie Leppington. Eisha Chahal, Abi Larway, Lily Prosser, Gaby Liu, Victoria Adesina, Emily Foster, Lucy Pitman, Verity Wilcox

Result: Lost 1-3, 23-25, 25-17, 16-25, 19-25

For a variety of reasons this was the first time Eisha had been available to play 2024 and this match showed just how much we’ve missed her. OK we didn’t win the game but our girls played really well against the division leaders and it was Eisha that made the difference. I’d give her scores of - serving 4/5, setting 5/5, short cover 9/5. She wasn’t alone, the whole team pitched in, Abi hit some great winners and Gaby filled in very well in the opposite position. 

Overall it was a really enjoyable hard-fought game, the advantage swung back and forth between the teams, both teams chased and scrambled, produced some good 3-touch attacking play and some great rallies/ saves/ recoveries. Competitive, enjoyable to watch and enjoyable to play in, a great advert for amateur local league volleyball.

We came off after the match asking ourselves how did we lose? We played such good volleyball how did Lynx manage to stay in touch? How did they pull away from a tight all-square situation in the teens whben it mattered in sets 3 and 4? Truth is it was tight throughout and a few lapses with serve-receive mix-ups and consecutive service errors were enough for Lynx to shade it.
