MVL WD1 home and away matches vs Knutsford

Venue: Knutsford Leisure Centre. start 8:00pm

Results: 

match1 (Knutsford Home): Wirral lost 0-2, 22-25, 17-25

match 2 (Wirral Home): Wirral lost 1-2, 20-25, 29-27, 12-15

Another disappointing performance. Not even the late addition of Gina (replacing Liv Stewart) could lift this group in games plagued by poor cover, numerous errors and switching/ system problems. Our attack was toothless, we regularly gave the ball away - around 50% of opposition serves were dug straight back over the net - and couldn’t seem to maintain concentration for more than a couple of points. We were missing two of our strongest players (Nina and Eloise) but really should have done better. Knutsford weren’t great but they deserved to win as they covered the court and controlled the ball better.

After tthe early season games it looked like we could win the league but we’ve ended up bottom and likely to be relegated from Division 1  - I guess it’s only to be expected from a group who’ve hardly trained (and haven’t trained together) all season.
