MVL WD2 away match vs Hoylake Hurricanes

Team: Yan Xi Chen (captain), Abi Larway, Helena Hinch, Lily Prosser, Imi Newall, Eisha Chahal, Kaitlin Ha, Libby Canham, Lily Simpson, Sadie Capstick, Liv Stewart, Emily Foster

Result: Won 3-0, 25-13, 25-19, 25-17

Oh frabjous day. This could have been a disaster with a lot of disgruntled kids sitting bored on the bench but instead it was a joy - just look at the pictures - with a lot of support and encouragement from the players off-court and great celebrations at the end.

OK Hurricanes were very poor so the win was no great triumph but this was the first time in Wirral colours for 4 of these young players and the constant substitutions could have disrupted our team’s rhythm. Not a bit of it. They were so much better than the opposition - control, technique, system, awareness, scrambling ability - that the result was never in doubt. Everyone got to play and everyone enjoyed it.

After two (very different) wins in two days our team's confidence is sky high, they are eager for the next match and ready to play anyone.

It was an easy win but a good day for the club and the best introduction possible for our new young players.
