Result: Wirral won by 3 sets to 0, 25-13, 28-26, 26-24

A good win and a good work out before next Sunday’s U18 Grand Prix. A good chance also to give some of the girls who missed sessions because they could not get off work before Christmas some useful match practice. 

An easy win in the first set with our strongest 6 on court, followed by tighter results in sets 2 and 3 as we tried different combinations and tried to give everyone some court time. There was a lot to be happy about with pretty reliable and occasionally powerful serving, good control and coverage of the court, and some strong blocking and hitting. It was also good to see the team find the resolve to win both 2nd and 3rd sets from tight situations when we could easily have lost.

There are a few things to address at training on Thursday but this was useful preparation for the test to come next week.
