Team: Katie Leppington (capt), Eisha Chahal, Helena Hinch, Lily Prosser, Abi Larway, Kaitlyn Ha, Libby Canham (libero).

Oh dear. With Yan Xi unavailable, Eisha suffering with a cold and Katie out of sorts our girls put in a dismal performance at today’s U16 Grand Prix competition, losing all three games 2-0 and never really looking as though we had a chance of winning a set. Disappointingly our girls never really got control of the ball and the scrapping and chasing they are really good at was only rarely in evidence as we went down to long runs of opposition serves when we just could not return the ball, mostly though our own errors. Our loss to Urmston Grammar A - who will expect to make the last 8 competition and possibly the finals -was predictable, but both Stockport and Newcastle Staffs were beatable. Maybe we’ll get another chance against them in later rounds.
