WELL DONE GIRLS

It wasn’t all plain sailing, the first two matches went to 3 sets and we scraped home 15-13 and 16-14, largely down to winners from Lois at the death. The team showed some belief, coming back from big defecits in a couple of sets and digging in when it mattered. Eisha had done really well filling in in the setting position to get us through the first two games, but when Gina arrived (after having worked in the morning) we became a much stronger team. She took a few sets to settle in but then began to run  the game as we know she can, serving strongly, covering brilliantly, and penetrating effectively to give us three hitters most of the time and to bring Nina into the game. We won the last two matches easily, and cruised through to top the pool. Standout player on the day was Eloise who played really well in the 4/5 position showing outstanding cover and passing and winning a lot of points from 4.

We will be seeded in the top pool for the next round on February 6th, but, hopefully with Lauren and Ella back our girls will be able to perform just as well in round 2.

Sorry, no photos. I was just too busy on the day to think about taking any.
