Sunday, 7 November 2021 11:00

U15s from 11:00am to 12:30pm,

U15 team: Helena Hinch, Eisha Chahal, Katie leppington, Abbie Larway, Lily Prosser, Imi Newall

Scores: 25-21, 23-25, 8-15

First Competitive match for our U15 girls and they did really well, winning the first set largely due to Imi Newall's strong overarm serve, and running Frodsham really close sfter a good fightback in the second. Not so many rotation problems as we might have expected, generally good cover, and some nice 3-touch volleyball. Frodsham had to strenghten their team after the first set and only just managed to take the second. it was a very good first outing for our U15s with a lot of things to build on.

U16 team: Katie Thomas, Verity Wilcox, Nicole Uzonwanne, Ellie Stocker, Lily Hogan, Lily Bloomfield, Ella Groverall.

Scores: 20-25, 21-25

This match looked like it was going to be too easy, Ella blasting us into an 11-2 lead with a terrific spell of serving leaving the Frodham team looking ragged. But Frodsham fought back with a strong run of serves of their own and we were in a game. Our girls held the lead to 14-7 but Frodsham pegged us back a point at a time before levelling at 20-20 and finally taking the set 25-20. By this time Frodsham had all their experienced players out and they pulled away in the second set to a comfortable 20-13 lead, but, to their credit, our girls fought back, and, but for a couple of errors on crucial points near the could have taken the set. I was proud of the character the team showed in fighting back but it’s clear there’s still work to do service receive and court coverage.
